He created the idea of star image and since then has been a theory has been very important to the industry.
Star theory is fundamentally where the star/artist is an image instead of a person. The image is constructed by a range of materials.
These include;
music they put out
films they are in
magazines they're in
what they wear
products they release
etc.
All these constructions help sell the artist and markets them to their target audience.
Some of these values that certain artists need to promote their star image is decided on their genre aswell as their audience.
For example
One direction were meant to be seen as youthful and innocent in the duration of the beginning of their career due to their age as well as having 10 year old fans
However once they aged they were promoting the values of, sexual magnetism, creativity, rebellion and heart breakers.
